About Us

Swastha Nepal is a recognized service group at the College of William and Mary, founded in 2010 in order to promote healthcare in Nepal. Dr. Ken Kambis of the Kinesiology department is currently our sponsoring professor who is conducting altitude studies. In the past years, the members of Swastha Nepal have gone on annual trips to Nepal in order to conduct research on sustainable healthcare and to provide medical care with medical professionals. Money raised from fundraisers were sent to the Mountain Fund, a non-profit organization focused on various public health projects. However, since the Nepal earthquake in April 2015, our team has refrained from trips to Nepal so that we may not be a burden to them.

Our current agenda is focused on fundraising for future trips and for donations to be used for Nepal. We are also in the process of finding an alternate non-profit organization to work with. During our weekly meetings we present about the Nepali culture and healthcare. Our meetings are one credit classes held under professor Kambis' guidance.
